London Club Called Out For Denying Entry To Black Women - The Voice

A woman took to Twitter to share her experience with the London club ‘Tiger Tiger’. She stated that the and her friends had gone to the club for a birthday party and that everyone was allowed in, except for her black friends. When asked why, the management stated “you lot are 5% of my revenue and 100% of my problems”. After this, many others shared their experiences with the same club, stating that they have had similar experiences in the past. Tiger Tiger states that it is investigating the situation.

This is an example of soft news, The story can link to the audience pleasure of ‘personal identity’ because many of The Voice’s readers are black and may relate to the story. It also provides them with surveillance because they become aware of a club that they shouldn’t go to.

To some extent, this is an example of click bait news as the headline may trigger anger and shock in some readers, prompting them to read the article. However, it is not as bad as Daily Mail’s celebrity, gossip soft news- this story has effected real people negatively.
